Using Google News Reader

How to setup and use Google News Reader

Select News Reader

Sign into Gmail account
1. Select More from the top menu
2. Select Reader
or go to web site http://www.google.com/reader

Subscriptions

3. Select Subscriptions from the left hand side menu

News Subscriptions

4. Select News and then browse to select news item of interest.

Send link to news item to Blogger

6. Select Send to
7. Select Blogger to send link to News item to Blogger account

Edit Blog

6. Blogger page opens to display link to News Item
7. Edit Blog to add your own text. This can be a short sentence or it could be a longer blog post based on the linked News Item

Publish Blog Post

7. Click Publish Post

View Blog Post

Your blog post should now be published
8. Select View Post

View Blog Post

9. Select link to news item to view full news story.
10. You can now also link to this blog post using the social media buttons at the bottom of the post.

Post Link to News Item on Twitter

Return to Google Reader and browse to select news item of interest.
11. Click on Send to
12. Select Twitter to create tweet with link to news item

Edit Tweet

13. View tweet with link to news item
14. Edit tweet to add text. Add # tag!
15. Select Tweet

Tweet Published

16. Tweet is published with link to news item
17. Notice Short URL - The link has automatically shortened by Twitter
